Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology include the following:
- Hours Required and General/College Requirements: A minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
- Major Requirements: 39 hours in sociology, of which 30 must be advanced
- Sociology Core Curriculum (18 hours): SOCI 1510D, SOCI 3200D, SOCI 3220D, SOCI 3240D, SOCI 3280D, SOCI 4990D. Note: Students must receive a “C” or better in sociology core curriulum classes
- 21 additional hours in sociology
- Minor Requirements: A minor requires at least 18 hours in a given subject, including 6 hours of advanced work. Specific course sequences for a minor are determined by the department offering the minor. A minor is not required BUT recommended in Psychology
- Electives: 27 hours with a minor or 45 hours without a minor
- Other Requirements:
- Students must have a cumulative UNTD grade point average or transfer grade point average of 2.3 to declare sociology as a major
- Minimum sociology grade point average of 2.5 and a grade point average of 2.0 overall is required for graduation
- 31 hour residence requirement
